In a recent event hosted by the Saudi Transport General Authority in London, Saudi Arabia unveiled plans to establish 59 logistics zones by 2030 as part of its Vision 2030 initiative. Key attendees at the event included the Saudi Ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid Bn Bandar Bin Sultan, and Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Dr. Rumaih Al Rumaih.
Prince Khalid emphasized the nation’s commitment to realizing Vision 2030 and praised recent advancements in the maritime sector and the Kingdom’s support for environmental initiatives. Dr. Al Rumaih outlined the logistics zone plans intending to rank among the top ten countries in the Logistics Performance Index by 2030. He also revealed intentions to expand port capacity to over 40 million containers.
Dr. Al Rumaih expressed satisfaction with improvements in the marine environment and collaborations with the International Maritime Organization and its member states. Additionally, he announced the upcoming Maritime Industry Sustainability Conference scheduled for September 4-6, 2023, focusing on the theme “Innovation for a Greener Future” and aiming to promote sustainable practices in the maritime industry.
