Dubai’s leader Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has given the green light to make the Dubai Exhibition Centre much bigger. This AED10 billion project will turn the center into the region’s biggest indoor event space.
The expanded center, located at Expo City Dubai, fits perfectly with Dubai’s plan to grow by 2040. It shows how Dubai wants to be a strong business hub that brings in events and shows from around the world.
Sheikh Mohammed shared his excitement about the project: “This new venue will be the biggest in our region and will help make Dubai an even more important place for big events. We want Dubai to be the top choice for major events worldwide.”
The project will happen in three steps. By 2026, the center will be almost two and a half times bigger than it is now. When it’s all done in 2031, it will have huge halls that stretch for over a kilometer. It will be able to host one massive event or up to 20 smaller ones at the same time. The center will also get a new hotel with more than 300 rooms, shops, offices, and a big kitchen.
This bigger center means Dubai can hold twice as many big events each year – going from 300 to 600 by 2033. It will welcome events about technology, healthcare, food, money matters, energy, and property. The center will also create new ways for people to join in events about media, transportation, education, tourism, and manufacturing.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who leads several important organizations in Dubai, explained how this fits with other big projects: “The new exhibition center goes hand in hand with our plans for Expo City Dubai and the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport. Together, these projects show how Dubai is building for the future.”
The Dubai World Trade Centre team wants this project to help triple the money Dubai makes from business events to AED54 billion each year by 2033. This matches Dubai’s bigger economic goals outlined in their D33 plan.
This expansion will help Dubai compete better globally and strengthen its position as a key place where international business happens. It’s part of Dubai’s ongoing work to be one of the world’s top three cities for tourism and business.
