Sharjah Launches AI Hub to Accelerate Global Innovation and Talent Development

Sharjah has unveiled a new AI Hub designed to position the emirate as a global gateway for artificial intelligence innovation, collaboration, and talent development. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between research and real-world application by offering fully integrated services across the AI value chain.

The Hub will provide a comprehensive ecosystem that includes:

  • AI consulting and advisory
  • Applied research and development
  • Data analytics and prototyping
  • Advanced computing infrastructure

Operating through a consortium of regional and international partners, the Hub enables organisations to access specialised expertise and emerging technologies. Its focus extends to developing practical AI solutions across key sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, sustainability, and smart cities.

A defining feature of the initiative is its broad view of “talent.” The ecosystem is designed to include not only individuals, but also institutions, companies, and global contributors who may collaborate remotely—reinforcing the UAE’s position as an inclusive innovation platform.

The Hub is already supporting projects in sectors like healthcare and finance, alongside training programmes aimed at building AI capabilities. These efforts are expected to scale as more partnerships and initiatives are introduced.

Government collaboration will play a central role, with approximately 18 government labs set to become operational within the ecosystem this year. This integration is intended to streamline innovation, policy alignment, and implementation under one unified platform.

In addition, the Hub places strong emphasis on capacity building through:

  • Professional training programmes
  • Industry certifications
  • Workshops for researchers and government entities

These initiatives are designed to equip stakeholders with the practical skills required to adopt and scale AI solutions effectively.

The Hub operates under SPARK (formerly SRTIP), established in 2016 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. Today, SPARK hosts over 7,500 companies across sectors ranging from healthcare to advanced manufacturing, further strengthening Sharjah’s position as a growing center for innovation and technology.
