UAE – Qatar Air Space Reopened
On Jan 9th, Saturday, after signing the Al-Ula declaration of solidarity agreement, The UAE general authority of civil Aviation declared the reopening of airspace and the air traffic between the UAE and the State of Qatar.
The authority stated that flights between UAE and Qatar would resume scheduled and unscheduled flights in cooperation with the civil aviation authorities and national airlines in the UAE.
Al-Ula declaration signing was welcomed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) which observed the reopening of the air, land, and sea borders between the state of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
This makes a path for airlines to continue links with the regional and global air carriers that help in the reduction of fight time, operational cost and provide key air links that encourage travel and tourism throughout the region.
Mohammed Ali Al-Bakri, Vice President of the International Air Transport Association in Africa and the Middle East stated that during this critical time it was a good decision and good news for travelers and air transport sector regarding the reopening of the air space because the direct route of flights will ease the transportation process. Especially with the coronavirus vaccine distributed all over the world, given the importance of the regional location and the air space connecting continents.
