UAE Government Initiates Economic Reactivation
The UAE Government officials recently held a high-power strategy meeting and launched a detailed action plan to bring economic activity back to full swing.
The economic reopening, announced in phases by the Dubai Government is already underway with almost all offices having opened (albeit to limited capacity), and even malls/cinemas having reopened. The Government has strictly announced a slew of protection and social sanitization measures (such as the sterilization programme) in addition to penalizing non-compliance on facial masks or social distancing. Moreover, all Government offices will have 100% of their staff working from offices by June 14th 2020.
All the above measures involve both personal/individual responsibility as well as Government involvement in making the economic recovery a smooth and effective process for all.
Earlier this month, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum had provided clear instructions to formulate a strategy and execution plan for the economic era post-Covid 19. With immediate focus on the medical and pharmaceutical sector, an emergency plan was asked to be developed for the enhancement of competitiveness and productivity in the sector. The main aim of this vision is to ensure that financial, human and economic resources be properly channeled by the Government for the sustained strengthening of food, economic and medical security.
As part of this strategy, the key sectors under focus would be education, the Government, the community, health, food security and the economy.
The meeting was attended by over 100 officials from all Government authorities, along with international and industry experts.
