UAE Department of Justice adopts Blockchain

The UAE Department of Justice (DoJ) has implemented blockchain technology for its authentication services.

Dr Saeed Ali Bahbouh Al Naqbi, Chancellor and Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Justice formally announced the launch of blockchain technology implementation for authentication services.

The technology implementation comes under the UAE Government services strategy, and is aimed at providing digital services for the general public. The advantage is that such services are always accessible and are more accurate in delivery.

While maintaining data privacy, the UAE Government has implemented the blockchain technology to provide easy, safe and fast digital services.

The complete digital transformation in notary services comes as part of the Ministry’s initiatives to implement the directives laid out by UAE leadership in the 50th year. In addition, the transformation takes the country closer to achieving the UAE vision to make the country the best in the world for Government services.

Until the digital transformation, the customers of notary services had to be present in person for authentication. This proved to be a roadblock during extreme situations, emergencies or even untoward circumstances.

Now the authentication is done with the help of UAE PASS, allowing customers to be present anywhere in the world, and allowing authentication to be done through the digital medium. This allowed customers to check or cancel all transactions online, while for people of determination they were allowed to authenticate powers of attorney.
