Sheikh Mohammed Encourages Startups and Youth through Projects

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum gave a much-needed boost to the startup ecosystem by launching a spate of new projects.

One of the world’s most preferred startup ecosystems is that of the UAE, as voiced by many businessmen, experts and mentors over multiple platforms and surveys. According to Forbes, 33 out of the 50 most-funded startups are headquartered in UAE.

Startups are widely sought after as they are agile, and help in identifying gaps in the system, which allows authorities to open up more opportunities.

In this context, Sheikh Mohammed announced over social media that the economy is headed in the right direction, and also announced the list of initiatives under the Ministry of Economy.

The ruler of Dubai specified that the national agenda was to attract youth and provide a strong encouragement to startups. Three strong initiatives were pointed out by Sheikh Mohammed, namely Scale-up platform (to support the growth and scalability of startups), Skill-up academy (for business leadership) and Grow in UAE (an integrated information platform).

Some other initiatives are expected to be launched by early 2022, and these include new market expansion accelerators for family businesses, conducting a global investment conference in UAE and also the launch of an institute for economic research.

The initiatives come as part of the UAE vision for the next 50 years, solidifying its space as the most robust economy in the world.
